Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS YOUR APPROACH & SHOOTING STYLE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

It is very important for us to work with each couple and learn about their relationship and style to bring their story to life. Storytelling is a huge part of our process in creating our galleries and cinematography. We work on creating a customized timeline together with you to ensure we have the optimal time for the entire day. As we are photographing you, there will be moments of us directing you into organic moments and other times where we set you into a pose. There are multiple situations throughout the day that require different approaches of direction. Our goal, in the end, is to capture as much of the day by allowing it to unfold naturally.

DO YOU SHOOT FILM OR DIGITAL? WHY?

We shoot in both traditional film format and professional-grade digital cameras & lenses. We love the timeless feel of the film and the speed & reliability of digital. On the wedding day, I mostly use film during all of the daylight portions of the day. I then switched to mostly digital for the reception and mixing in some film. Film photographs retain more highlights, dynamic range, creamier image compression for backgrounds, a smoother blending of light and tone, a more true-to-life color palette, a more appealing grain, and overall more aesthetically pleasing texture and controlled vibrancy. I love to capture as much as I can of the day through film and having my digital camera to capture some of the highlights. Once the photographs are taken on film rolls, they are given to a film lab who will then process and scan the negatives into the computer at a high resolution. These images are then seamlessly edited along with the digital images uploaded online.

DO YOU USE SECOND SHOOTERS?

During a wedding day I always have my assistant who is not labeled a second photographer but is there to assist me in my process of shooting film. My assistant will be capturing different angles during the ceremony and the reception. I have found that unless it is a much larger wedding with a guest count of around 250 or more, I am able to capture everything sufficiently on my own. I only recommend a second shooter if I see the need for my clients to have one. This is why creating a timeline with my couples is so important, so I know whether or not to incorporate a second shooter.

HOW INVOLVED ARE YOU IN THE PLANNING PROCESS?

I am here to help. I can give as much advice as you need from me. If you have a wedding planner, I will work closely with him or her to make sure your wedding runs smoothly and photographs beautifully.

WHAT IS THE TURN AROUND TIME FOR OUR GALLERY?

A typical turnaround is 6-8 weeks after your wedding day to receive your online wedding gallery where you are able to download, place print orders and share the gallery with family and friends. Final products such as albums, prints, USB drives, and framed prints take around 10-12 weeks.

HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL I RECEIVE?

I make sure to set up each image well, slowing down to focus on what is in front of my lens. I get multiple shots and angles of each pose and then guide you into a new and organic pose to tell a cohesive story. It is important in my work to capture images that guide you through the day with interest and detail as well as creating imagery worthy to hang on your wall. Each wedding day is unique and every timeline varies but you can expect 60-80 final images per hour of wedding coverage.

DO I RECEIVE COPYRIGHTS TO THE IMAGES?

In all collections, you will receive high-resolution, fully edited JPEG images that are print quality accompanied by a print release allowing you to share and print your images. For clients who are extremely private and concerned with privacy, we do offer a full buyout of copyrights to the images. Please inquire about pricing and usage restrictions.

CAN WE SEND YOU A SHOT LIST TO FOLLOW?

I always have multiple conversations with my clients throughout the planning process to go over a shot list. I usually ask my clients if there is a specific pose such as a pose their mom or grandmother did that they want to replicate or a favorite image. I also send out a form for you to fill out for family formals so that we make sure no one is missed. Aside from the family formal list and a special image list, it is up to me to capture all of the details to tell the story of your day.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE REFINING MY WEDDING VISION. DO YOU HAVE TIPS?

I am very involved in the aesthetics of my clients’ day. In my experience, consistent color palettes, textures, and style will look the most timeless in photos and the least distracting from the true focus of the day. If you’re having anxiety or trouble narrowing down your look, I am happy to direct you to ideas and inspiration.

WHAT IS YOUR EDITING PROCESS LIKE?

It is really important for me to get the correct tones that bring you back to the memories of the wedding day. Photographing with film produces the most gorgeous and dreamy tones that evoke a clean and true-to-life color palette. I want the images to transport you back to what it felt like. Editing consists of color correction and touch ups for blemishes and minor Photoshop edits.

DO YOU OFFER PACKAGES OR A LA CARTE PRICING? ARE WE IN CHARGE OF YOUR TRAVEL FEES?

Investment for elopements begins at $3,000 and investments for weddings begin at $6,000. Based on what most of my clients are looking for, I create custom packages tailored to your needs – taking into account location, wedding party size, and more. All packages include a complimentary engagement session, me and my assistant on the wedding day, high-resolution images, and an online gallery. We make it simple for couples so we don't have a lot of complicated packages. All travel fees are included in each package. In order for us to do our job well, we will be booking our own accommodations. Let me know a little more about what you are expecting from your wedding photography. In order to ensure greater attention to detail, I only accept a limited number of weddings per year.

WE ARE SO NERVOUS TO BE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA! DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS?

During an engagement session, this is the time where you become at ease being in front of the camera. I will walk you through posed and organic moments. We usually start the session with some great warm-up poses and then I give you tips throughout to create the best movement and flattering angles. After the session, you will feel as though you have just gone on a date and you will feel so much more prepared for the big day.

DO YOU TRAVEL FOR DESTINATION WEDDINGS OR INTERNATIONAL WEDDINGS?

Yes, we really enjoy new locations and traveling to you. Our passports are current. Contact us for pricing collections for your destination wedding.

WE HAVE DECIDED TO ORDER AN EXTRA ALBUM OR PRINTS. IS IT POSSIBLE TO ORDER PRODUCTS AFTER SIGNING A CONTRACT?

Yes, if you would like to order an extra album or duplicate parent albums as gifts, I offer a special album rate for my couples. Please contact me to go over some options and pick out finishes.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK YOU? AND WHAT IS YOUR BOOKING PROCESS?

Most clients book with me 6 months to 1 year in advance. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for rates and details.

WE WOULD LIKE TO BOOK YOU FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY ONLY. IS THAT AN OPTION?

Currently, we are only offering our cinematography as an addition to our photography.

WHAT IF IT RAINS OR WE HAVE BAD WEATHER ON OUR WEDDING DAY?

Before the day of your wedding, we visit your venue if we are not familiar with it. We will create a backup plan with you in the event that we have incliment weather.
