LLANDUDNO, WALES

After Lam and Michael’s beautiful West Yorkshire wedding we took a small trip to the beautiful coast in Wales. This love story of an American girl meeting an Englishman of her dreams was a fairytale. With Lam being from a coastal town it was a wish that we could capture them in Llandudno.

As we began our small trip to Wales, the rain began to fall and some fog set in to the hills above the town. Naturally this would make for a bad time to capture images and film them but that did not stop us from capturing sweet and lovely moments. We made our first stop at the old and quaint hotel we were staying at for the night that was located at the very top of the hill. Our hotel window looked out over an absolutly picturesque view of the misty roof tops. We cleaned up a bit and headed out for quick lunch at the best little cafe, Osborne’s to let the rain subside before driving into the green hills of the Great Orme.

It was not long after reaching the second wind on the drive up the Orme that the rain began to fall again but it made for a fun moment. Lam and Michael laughed and strolled throught the lush ferns growing on the slopes and made the most of the fog and rain and I think it added to the true feeling of the country and a dreamy session.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA

The first time I talked to Erin and Kevin, I knew they were old souls. Their classy style and love for the old cinema had me so excited to be a part of the imagery I shot for them. They expressed a love for the tones and feel of the technicolor films that began in the late ’30s. They were drawn to the authentic colors and wanted the Grace Kelly/ Cary Grant vibes for their engagement session.

With a lot of planning and chatting about all of their ideas, we managed to start the session in an apple orchard and end in the beauty of the Back Bay Wildlife Refuge. Erin purchased a dress and hat from a vintage shop and Kevin looked very dapper in his sport coat and ascot.

The warm stroll in the orchard ended in a breezy and gorgeous picnic on the dunes with wine, grapes, and vegan cheese. Both Erin and Kevin mentioned early on that everything in their engagement session and wedding would be vegan. Details were very important to them so all the items down to the blanket they picnicked on were carefully chosen to reflect their vegan life. Erin’s ring was also purchased from the company, Do Amore. Every ring from the company helps build a water project for a community in a developing country and is directly responsible for giving one person from that community access to clean water.

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA

In between weddings and family session I thirst to stay inspired with special projects. When Viktoiya from Hanging Gardens appoached me about collaborating with her for a project at the Virginia House in Richmond, I could not decline. This project was so much fun because we added elements that I feel really add to the uniquness of the inspiration. From the floral filigree in the flatware to the acorn earrings and croquett set we were able to tell an old English love story.

So many times we get lost in the very fact that simplicity and classic attire really create the richest look. It had me diving into a search for vintage fashion and traditional items to add into future projects, engagement sessions and weddings that help tell the story of the day.

I am now very involved in helping my clients curate a wedding story based on their hobbies, family traditions and what embodies their realtionship as a couple. I find this old English love story has opened my eyes the real importance of authenic fashion and creating a meaningful story for each couple.
